Privacy

Summit Loop keeps very little about its readers. This page explains what and why.

Reader polls

When you vote in a poll we set a random cookie (called naf_v) so that each reader counts once. Where our hosting passes it on, we also keep a scrambled form of your connection address (a keyed hash, not the address itself) to stop one connection from voting many times. Neither is linked to your name or email address, and we do not use them for advertising.

Listing requests

If you ask us to correct or remove a directory listing, we store your message, the optional contact detail you give us, and a scrambled form of your connection (or a random cookie) to limit abuse. We use them only to handle your request. Answered requests are deleted after 180 days, and the contact detail and scrambled connection value are removed from any request that old. Readers whose browsers do not keep cookies share one overall hourly allowance for the site, so during a burst of requests the form can briefly refuse new submissions.

Newsletter signup

Subscribing happens on our email provider's page, not on this site. Their privacy policy applies to the address you give them.
