About VIGEO GARDENS
Our vision is local produce, everywhere. Our mission is to grow better produce closer to home. That's what "grown where you live" means to us, and why we say elevate every bite.
We're an indoor farm in Akron, Ohio, growing fresh produce year-round, from microgreens to artisan mushrooms. We exist because most "fresh" food travels too far and loses too much along the way. So we grow it clean, never sprayed, and close to the people who eat it. Weather doesn't stop us, seasons don't shrink our shelves, and every harvest is built for flavor you can taste.
If you want to help make local produce the default, not the exception, you'll fit right in.
Position Overview
We're adding dependable, motivated team members to our second shift in Akron.
Second shift keeps the farm moving into the next morning. You'll work with our team on packaging, allocating orders for shipment, sanitation, and the prep work that sets up first shift for a strong start. As needs change, you'll also help with sowing, harvesting, and other production tasks.
The work is active and fast-paced. Successful team members are comfortable staying on their feet, working with their hands, following standardized processes, keeping production pace, and moving between tasks as the evening's needs change.
Previous agriculture experience is not required. We provide training on our crops, equipment, processes, and food safety procedures.
Kitchen and foodservice experience is a strong fit here. If you've worked a busy line, prep station, or kitchen as a cook, sous chef, or chef, you already know the pace, the attention to detail, and the eye for quality this work demands. Experience in food production, packing, manufacturing, warehousing, or similar environments is also highly valued. Candidates with relevant experience may qualify for compensation at the upper end of our pay range.
Second shift is growing, and team members with kitchen leadership experience (sous chef, chef, kitchen lead) may have the opportunity to grow into a leadership role on the shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Package premium microgreens and specialty crops to our quality and production standards.
- Allocate and stage packaged product for next-day shipments, matching each order accurately.
- Clean and sanitize grow systems, trays, equipment, and production areas according to food safety procedures.
- Complete prep work so first shift can start on time: restock, organize, and set up supplies and work stations.
- Help with sowing, harvesting, and other production tasks as needed.
- Complete shift checklists and pass along accurate notes to the next shift.
What We're Looking For
- Availability for Monday–Friday, 2:00 PM to 10:30 PM, on a consistent basis.
- Kitchen or foodservice experience (line cook, prep cook, sous chef, chef, or similar) is highly preferred.
- At least 1 year of experience in a fast-paced food, production, packing, manufacturing, warehousing, or agriculture environment is preferred.
- Ability to work at a high pace while keeping track of many small details and holding a high standard for quality.
- Ability to work efficiently and independently in a production environment while keeping quality and attention to detail.
- Reliability and consistent attendance. Our operation runs on a production schedule, and every team member plays an important role in keeping it on track.
- Strong commitment to cleanliness, organization, and food safety.
- Willingness to learn new processes, equipment, and areas of the operation.
- Good communication skills and a team-first approach.
- Comfort working in warm and humid indoor growing environments.
Physical and Other Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 60 pounds.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of an 8-hour shift.
- Ability to bend, kneel, reach, and perform repetitive physical tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to reach above shoulder height and bend below the waist frequently.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States.
What We Offer
We offer competitive compensation based on experience and qualifications. Candidates with directly relevant kitchen, foodservice, food-production, production, packing, warehousing, or similar experience may qualify toward the upper end of the position's pay range.

- 401(k) retirement savings plan
- Health, dental, and vision insurance
